People like Tim and many others stand for what they believe in because we are living in a time where strongly committed people are needed as role models to others. You see, I know that if you are secure in what you believe, what others believe can never offend you.
In the early 1990s, I was traveling on a business trip to visit clients to thank them for their business. At that time I was the Founder and CEO of a $180 million transportation company that God blessed me to start with just a $50,000 investment.
As I sat down in my first-class seat, another well-dressed gentleman sat down next to me. We exchanged pleasantries and after we got to altitude, I pulled out my Bible and started reading the passage for that day. As a part of my routine, I do this each morning as it sets the tone for my day.
As I read, the well-dressed gentleman said, with a smirk, “Is that a Bible you are reading?” I responded, “yes sir it is.” He then said, “do you REALLY believe all that kind of stuff?” To which I responded, “ I sure do, in fact, it really makes my whole day.” He responded, “well good for you but it is not for me.”
I sat quietly for a while, reading and searching for the courage to respond properly. After a time I said, “Bill if I could say something to you that may bless you would you want me to tell you or keep my mouth shut?” The ball was in Bill’s court.
He said, “of course.” I then had the liberty to respond with my heart to a man that I knew needed what I had to say. I said Bill,” If this Bible I am reading is true and Jesus is who He says He is…..IF this airplane was to crash and we both lost our lives, I assume that I would be dead right and you would be dead wrong. Bill, you cannot afford to be dead wrong.”
After we landed we exchanged cards, said the usual have a nice day, and so forth. Several months later the receptionist at our corporate headquarters buzzed me to tell me that Bill was on the phone and it was urgent that I speak to him. As I answered, Bill, said there has not been a day pass in the several months that he has not thought about our conversation. Bill committed his Life to Jesus and committed to read his new Bible and get involved in a church for himself and his family. #Providence
Be confident about what you believe in….share with compassion and encouragement and never condemn. Galatians 6:9 & 10 “ let us not grow weary in well doing for the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not lose heart. Therefore as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially those who belong to the family of believers”
You may be Providentially placed in the presence of someone today that you can be used to make a difference in their life. Be Bold….Be You!
